Morning/Afternoon/Evening, Everybody!

I realize that I have been pretty bad about uploading pictures lately, so I just decided to put up a ton right now.  I’m sure eventually somebody will take over my computer and put more of them up on Facebook…

The result of this throw is not something Val is proud of... Regardless, her determination to get the mechanics down eventually worked out and she turned into a stellar bowler

These three little girls immediately became best friends with Trip and me. We all had about a 15 minute long dance party in the back alleys of Darjeeling until Big-Mama came out...

Jeff spreading American sports...where "football" means "football"... By the way, there is a 100% chance that Val did this exact same thing with a mysterious stranger at that young age...

Another interesting thing about India is the widespread use of HORRIBLE "tag line" shirts on guys. Like this chap's shirt. In no way, whatsoever, is this shirt funny or interesting....at all...but he is sporting it like a champ

Darjeeling Limited

Here are some of the pictures from our excursion to Darjeeling!

No cricket field? No problem! This was the "Darjeeling cricket stadium".

No idea what vegetarian means? No problem! something doesn't belong in this picture...

Val making friends with all sorts of locals

No cricket? No problem! We stumbled upon this basketball court in a Tibetan refugee camp. Trip can't be seen because he was crying tears of joy. Val on the other hand was just typically happy.

This street cricket game was a collasal disaster. Squating bull over there just whacked his bat on the ground, Hoodie didn't move an inch for about 5 minutes, and Running Man got bored and just started running circled around Hoodie... All in all it was a hilarious display of youth.

No tri-pod? No problem! This is trip setting up a shot with the Gorilla-pod...which is an amazing invention.

The Ride of All Rides

Here are some pictures from our 15 hour bus ride (+3.5 hour car ride) from Calcutta to Darjeeling.  (don’t laugh at the sleaveless-t…)

No directions? No problem! This was a pictures at the impossibly difficult to find Chinese Temple. With Val is our driver, Ajayray!

No shower? No problem! Calcutta was so hot that people all over the place are literally just bathing themselves with street water.

No shade? No problem! Just find yourself the biggest banyan tree in the world!

No motor? No problem! I'd like everybody to notice where Val's feet are... NOT WORKING!

This is us in front of the Victoria Memorial. Thank goodness to the Jobi "tripod" and the bush that it was pirched on.

No AC? Big problem.... This is what Val and I looked like getting onto the bus...

No health inspector? No problem! Just set up shop on the street! Actually, i'm sure his food was deliscious.

Okay…so apparently Val has all the pictures of the bus…so those will be up as soon as I can get them off her camera…

Calcutta = hot as hades!!!

Here are some pictures from the trip to Clacutta.  Check your emails for the full story, but if you aren’t getting the emails then just send a comment and I’ll make sure you are up-to-date on the happeneings!

No safety? No Problem! This is right outside of our "hotel" in Calcutta. Notice the massive amounts of exposed wires just hanging there. Also, across the way is another hotel...with no wall... The entire time we could see people walking up, down, and around the place...

No security? No Problem! We'll just set up our own little make-shift security-cam!

No bag? No problem! You'll see women in India carrying various resources like this. I still don't know how they do it...

No refrigerator? No problem! Powerbars were our lunch, but they had melted in the heat...so we naturally used the car "AC" to make them a little more edible.

Snuck an illegal pictures at the Kali Temple. I better be careful or she'll have my head...(reminder: goddess of destruction)

No bathroom? No problem! Guys are doing this all over the streets.

No Indian heritage? No problem! They'll just add some dots and stripes for you...for a price of course (which they don't tell you until after they paint your face)

No pool? No problem! Unfortunately this was probably the dirtiest water I've ever seen...but I don't blame them! It was hot!

On Arrival

Here are some of the pictures that I took during the first encounter with India I had…

No Spices? No Problem! We'll just add a giant jalepeno to your salad!

No Doors? No Problem! My first rick-shaw ride!!! We were heading to the hospital, which was convenient because I may or may not have needed to be there after the ride... (shout out to Lauren Guenther for that joke)

No Barn? No Problem! Cows are everywhere around the streets here. Just all over the place. This guy thinks he's hiding. I still see you cow!!!

No Lanes? No Problem! This is actually a relatively tame picture of the driving here. Keep in mind that we are all moving at this point...

No China? No Problem! This was my first real Indian meal! I have noticed that Indians used a lot of steel plates for whatever reason. Once again, good thing it was at a hospital. Quick access to meds!
